Cool for the Summer with CoolSculpt!

With warm summer weather upon us, lake life in full swing, and swim season here to stay, we want to all feel our best in our summer bikinis! While every body is a bikini body, some (like myself) struggle with areas of subcutaneous adipose tissue (aka stubborn fat cells) that don’t seem to want to budge regardless of diet and exercise. If you struggle with a similar area and wish you could do something to minimize it, CoolSculpting may be the treatment for you!

Understanding CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive treatment option with little to no downtime that reduces stubborn fat cells in a variety of approved areas on the body. Coolsculpting functions by, well, getting cool - freezing these superficial fat cells and killing them. Over the next several weeks, these dead fat cells are removed thanks to our body’s natural elimination process. This allows for permanent removal of those targeted fat cells, leaving a more contoured surface in the area of concern about 3 months after your last treatment session!

Who is a Candidate?

CoolSculpting is a great treatment option for a variety of patients, and during your evaluation a provider will determine if CoolSculpting is the best treatment for you! Clients that are great candidates are those who already are promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through diet and exercise, have reached their goal weight, but who still struggle with some areas of superficial “fluffy” fat that doesn’t seem to budge regardless of lifestyle modifications. Clients who are not candidates include those who are nursing or pregnant, those with previously known cold intolerances, impaired circulation or sensation in the affected area, or those who have active pacemakers/defibrillators. CoolSculpting is a great treatment option for those who want to sculpt an area by reducing the stubborn, superficial fat cells- but is not a great option for those who desire to reduce visceral fat, those who want to use CoolSculpting as a weight loss treatment, or those who want to use CoolSculpting to tighten their skin. If you desire a treatment option to improve skin laxity, contact ARTisan to see what treatment would be best for you!

The Evaluation

If you are interested in CoolSculpting, it’s important to have an evaluation with a professional who has been trained on the science behind the Sculpt. At ARTisan Skin and Laser, you will see one of our Advanced Practice Providers who will assess your areas of concern. Areas that are often treated include under the chin, the abdomen, flanks, underarm fat, back fat, the “banana roll” (or the small area of fat under the buttocks), and the inner/outer thighs. Once we have discussed the areas you wish to have treated, your provider will assess, document, and measure the area to develop a unique and customized treatment plan that consists of at least two sessions spaced a month apart. Often, patients are so happy with the results of just two sessions that they want to continue with additional cycles! We provide ample time to answer any questions you may have and walk you through what to expect on the first day of your treatment.

CoolSculpting Before and After

The Day of Treatment(s)

The procedure day will consist of documenting the area of treatment, reviewing the treatment plan with your provider, and beginning the CoolSculpting process! We will mark the areas of treatment that day and cleanse the skin. Once the skin is prepped and ready, we will attach the CoolSculpting applicator to the designated area of concern. At this point the client is able to relax for the CoolSculpting cycle which can last from 35 minutes to an hour and 15 min. After the cycle is done, the applicator is removed and a 2-minute massage is completed on the treated area to help further the breakdown of fatty tissue. This process is then repeated for as many treatment areas that you and your provider have decided upon! Once all of your areas of concerns are addressed and treated, you are free to go about your day as normal- there is virtually no downtime with CoolSculpting which makes it a great treatment option for patient’s who are on the go and busy this summer! We will want to see you back in 30 days for the second session of your treatment (this allows us to get you your best results) and your final results will be seen about 3 months after this second session!
